Adverse weather affects flights

Kathmandu. Flight operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been affected due to inclement weather. 

According to the Airport Office, domestic and international flights from the airport have been generally affected due to poor visibility. 

 

According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, general manager of the airport, flights to various international and domestic destinations have not been able to operate on time due to poor visibility due to adverse weather. 

The Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Colombo to Kathmandu has been on hold for half an hour. Similarly, a Batik Airplane from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia is also on hold in the sky over Simara. According to the airport, some domestic flights have been delayed. 

 

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather is currently cloudy and rainy due to the influence of the westerly wind as well as the local wind in the country. Flight operations were affected from noon to late night on Saturday due to rain. 

At present, the weather will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country with light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning taking place at some places of the hilly region and one or two places of the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces. The sky in Kathmandu has been partly cloudy since this morning. At present, rain is taking place in some parts of the Valley. source : rss
